Since my last progress check, 1.12 not much has changed, but it feels more rounded off especially the bots, In all the previous releases since the bots have been added, a person adds them, but nothing happens until you add them a second time, then it worked. In this release, the bots work as they should.
Video calling feels basically still the same works well between Skype For Linux Alpha clients but not yet across platforms. At my first effort of making a video, the video or voice calling did not work, but it did on the second try.
It is written that smsing is working now, but as I do not have money on my account, I could not test it out and other general improvements.
That is about that about this release. hope you found it helpful!

This is a quick look at Metamorphose 8.5.7. As I started to run through my tutorial, I thought wow! I want to spend more time in this distro, but the deeper I went into the operating system, I found some bugs, as shown in the video. But it is all minors and it is a beautiful system, and it might be because I ran it in a VM, but in general thumbs up for the great looking release!

Thank you for reading my blog about installing Steam on Zorin 12.
It is a pretty straight forward process, but many systems run into an error after a successful install but then the program do not want to start.
In this video tutorial, I show how to install Steam. Please let me know if you have any questions.
After you have a successful installation and Steam does not work, then troubleshooting steam is the next step. The first thing which you need to do is to analyze your problem, it is rather simple. first of all, you need to open up your terminal, either by searching for it in your start menu or pressing ctrl and alt and t together. Inside your terminal please type the word steam and press enter.
There are many error messages which you can receive and you can make a simple google search by copy pasting your error message in google, without the info of your home folder and so on, but there are 2 general fixes which work for most people and here they are. I would copy one at a time it into my terminal and press enter and test steam out! Please keep me posted and let me know if you have any questions or comments:
cd $HOME/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu mv libstdc++.so.6 libstdc++.so.6.bak cd $HOME/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu mv libstdc++.so.6 libstdc++.so.6.bak

Canonical has released a low graphics mode on Ubuntu 16.04, for unity 7. They made this good move mainly for people who runs Ubuntu in virtual machines, to improve the performance but it is also a good setting for those of us who have old systems, without the same power as modern day systems, and low graphics mode will improve your experience on Ubuntu 16.04. also!
Commands I used in the video: sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
In Elementary OS adding a printer, USB and Network printer are quite an automated process, but it is slightly different comparing to Windows, Mac or even Ubuntu!
In Elementary OS a USB printer should automatically connect and work out of the box when you plug it into your computer. But if it does not then you have to add it yourselves.
The good thing is that you do not need to look for drivers all around the internet but it is already waiting for you. Here is how a person does it,
System Setting - Printers - (the plus in the bottom). Then you search for your printer name, the make, and model as shown in the video and just follow the prompts.
That is it! If you need future assistance or have any other tutorial ideas for me, please let me know!
A few months ago Microsoft produced Skype For Linux Alpha and produced on a regular basis updates. In general, it looks much better than the current version, much more up to standard comparing to their versions on other platforms. It is basically their web app converted in an app and it is also the same version which Chromebooks will have or something similar as far as I understand.
The main problem which keeps many people from using the alpha, that video calling did not work at all, but since 1.10 video calling between Skype for Linux Alpha and Skype For Linux Alpha started to work, not yet with other versions of Skype. In version Skype 1.11 much more settings for video calling appeared but the quality from the previous version crashed to the floor. In this version 1.12, the video calling works well again. That is the major change in this version.
The video calling still only work between Skype For Linux Alpha versions.
Please look at my video of this version and you can browse my videos for progress check of all the other previous editions and how to download it.

It is rather easy to install Flash Player on Elementary OS 0.4 Loki, but it is also not so straight forwarded for some of us and in this tutorial, I will show how to install Flash and other plug-ins, fonts, and codecs, which will improve your experience. Ubuntu has created a neat package called ubuntu-restricted-extras which include all these things including flash okay. In Elementary OS 0.4 Loki, a person can only install this package via the terminal. with sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras. During the installation, a screen will appear and a person can move around the options with the tab key and arrow buttons.
Alternatively, a person can also only install flash player with sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

On the 8th of November Cinnamon Desktop Environment, 3.2.1 has been released and many of the bugs, which made it impossible to test out this version on supported Ubuntu versions was fixed, otherwise, I would not be able to make this preview video.
Cinnamon Desktop Environment 3.2 feels even more stable than the previous, and it is a big achievement because the previous one was already very stable.
Cinnamon Desktop Environment 3.2 will be used in Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon Edition, which most probably be released in December.
You can install Cinnamon Desktop Environment 3.2 via this method. Please be aware that it is mostly for testing purposes and it is much cooler in Linux Mint!
Simple Screen Recorder is a recorder which I have used and tested and this new release, 10 November 2016, can only be good for this already solid recorder which is not only available for Ubuntu but for many other Linux Distributions also. Simple Screen Recorder is very easily to install via a simple ppa as I showed in the video. It is reliable, free, open-source and easy to use!
Multiple Workspaces is a very handy tool for power users in Ubuntu. It is a great way to organize your computer. By putting your work on one, your music and videos on others and your office suites on another, this is just an example. It is also a neat way to separate your work from your social life. I know that many people do not use it, but it's a nifty tool to have and many people truly enjoys.
Here is a video where I demonstrate the power of it.

The guys at osboxes.org, has created a ready-made vdi image of Android 7 Nougat. Link at the bottom of the article. So it is as simple as download the image, uncompress it, connect the image to a virtual machine, let me know if you need more information on how to do that, and android will start to run!
Please be aware of the fact that it is not perfect. There are not the Google Play Store, it is just the pure basics, it is just to give you an idea of what Android 7 Nougat is all about. Another strange things are that when you close an app or do nearly any other random thing a black android screen will appear for a few seconds and then you can continue.
So to summarize, it is not a usable operating system for a computer, but for testing out and playing around it is good enough and all the apps on it work well!

Most of us grew up with Windows and with Windows an antivirus is not just a good thing to have, but it is a necessity. But as you are currently reading this post you have most probably just moved to Ubuntu, well most probably, and getting acquainted with this exciting and great operating system.
I am glad to let you know that you do not really need an antivirus for Linux, even though there are great anti-viruses out there. You can find links to them at the end of the article. But there is a catch!
If you do a quick Google search you found to find out that there are viruses for Linux, not as many as for Windows, because Windows have more users and the market for computer attacks are much bigger. So it does not mean that there are not viruses, but Linux has a different way of protecting systems from viruses.
When a virus is being released against Ubuntu, many smart people in the community looks for a patch, to fix the vulnerability and as soon as a patch are found it is sent to the developers, who will test it out and when it is approved, it is sent out as an update to Ubuntu systems.
Please note that I do not say that Ubuntu has a build in Antivirus and that the updates include signatures for viruses. I am saying that when a vulnerability are revealed, like recent Dirty Cow, Ubuntu will send up an update to your computer which will be a patch and prevent the Dirty Cow from infiltrating your computer.
So to protect your Ubuntu system from viruses and vulnerability it is vital that you keep your system up to date and run a version of Ubuntu which is still supported.
So to summarize, there are antiviruses out there for Ubuntu and a person can install them, but if you have a Ubuntu version which is supported and install updates when available, then you should be fine!
Ps. Antiviruses are great when you try to clean a Windows hard drive which is filled with viruses and malware, but that is for another article.
Ps. Please note, that this is my opinion and I am open for correction, where and if needed!

Please note that 3D technology as saw in the video is possible, I could not as I ran the video in a virtual machine and was not abe too. A person can also run any windows program in Robolinux as Windows virtual machines are integrated into the system, but a person needs to give a donation and as I am on a low budget, it was sadly not a possibility for the preview.

Endless 0S 3 was released on the 28th of September 2016. Endless OS3 is based on GNOME 3.20. I have not found an ISO file of Endless 3 but only an IMG file, and super easy instructions on how to install it on virtual box to try it out. Endless is not based for the normal market, but rather the less developed countries where internet is not always a possibility and money is also a question... So Endless OS stepped in and made cheap computers, pre installed with Endless OS which is powered with Linux and offline versions of Wikipedia, just to mention a bit of the power, makes the internet a nice thing to have but not a neccary thing to give people the power of the internet and too explore and learn. An app that stood out for me is the photo editing program, it is nice and filled with good functions. The only sad part of Endless is that the image folder is about 21GB. Endless 0S 3 is based in USA. Linux Kernel 4.4.0-42-generic are used in Endless 3.
When the system was in idle, it ran at about 700 - 1000 mb of ram.

But there are numeral errors and different commands are use to fix it. So the first job is to diagnose what the exact error is before we can find the solution.
Open up a terminal: in Ubuntu, a person can find the terminal by opening the bash and start typing terminal and click on it when it appears or presses ctrl and alt and t together. After that type the word steam in your terminal and press enter. This will either open up steam or give you an error message which will help us to fix Steam on Ubuntu 16.04.
